Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a process that attempts to promote your website to the top of the list when people are searching on the internet for your goods and services. The closer you are to the top of the list the more likely people are to make that click for a visit to your site. The challenge almost every time is the other organizations trying to get to the top of the list too. How do you compete? A friend of mine who is a surgeon was approached by a company that provides SEO services to surgeons. They promised to bring his website to the top of the list for every major search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.).
