Email Setup and Help
*REMEMBER: If you are a United Webworks hosting client with email services, you can often retrieve your email at www.yourwebsite.com/webmail, EVEN IF your desktop or mobile device is temporarily not delivering email. Your login is your email address. Call for lost passwords.
**If your desktop or mobile email is temporarily not receiving emails, your emails are NOT being deleted. They are only delayed and will be received when your issue is resolved.
Assistance with Troubleshooting Email Accounts:
Check and have ready the following information:
Having this information readily available helps us to help you quickly and efficiently:
- Is your internet connection working properly? Try viewing and refreshing a few webpages.
- If on a wireless or shared router, is the router working? Is anyone else in your office or on your network experiencing the same issues?
- Is your webmail working?
- Who is your internet provider (example: Comcast, Bellsouth, etc).
- Are you using WiFi in a public space such as a hotel, coffeeshop or airport?
- What device or devices (example: home PC, work PC, phone, tablet, etc) do you use to check email? Which are experiencing an error?
- What program is experiencing the error (for example, you may use Microsoft Outlook on your desktop, or Firebird, or a number of other programs).
- When did the error start?
- Is the error when sending email, receiving, or both?
Getting help with a third party internet provider, software or hardware provider:
If you have a concern regarding your United Webworks email accounts, don't hesitate to call. United Webworks will ask all of the questions above to determine the most likely root and resolve it for you. Sometimes the root is stemming not from our servers but from an internet provider, a hardware issue (ex. an iPhone or Blackberry problem) or a software issue (ex. Microsoft or Apple.) In this case, United Webworks will provide all possible assistance up to and including contact information for the correct expert to resolve your third party problem.
Common Microsoft Outlook Email Setup:
Different versions of Outlook may vary slightly.
Go to Tools
Settings or Account Settings
Server or Setup information
Look for any tab or command relating to "Server"
You should have two servers listed, an incoming and outgoing. Be sure you have the following settings applied:
Incoming Server: POP3 mail.YOURDOMAIN.com
Outgoing Server: SMTP mail.YOURINTERNETPROVIDER.com or .net. For example: mail.bellsouth.net
You can often find the name of this server immediately by googling "email server for MY INTERNET PROVIDER". Most providers will have this available readily online.
